The idea of this website was originally to suggest books and authors that you might not have heard of. Michael Morpurgo is probably about as famous as you can get as a children's author, but so many children suggested this book to me I just had to add it to the site! Many children like Michael Morpurgo books, but many also find them a bit upsetting. This book is different, this is a super, feel good story. It is also a short story with an interesting information section at the end of the book. When a young boy gets a reputation for being naughty at school, he reacts by being the bad lad that everyone expects. Leaving school at 14, he becomes a thief and eventually ends up in Hollesley Prison. But Mr Alfie, the stable manager, decides to give the boy a chance, letting him look after the horses. Can this bad lad’s skill with horses save him from a life of crime and help him achieve his dreams? “A classic collaboration and a tale of redemption” The Bookseller “Morpurgo and Foreman weave an inspiring tale about what happens when someone is shown how to follow their dreams” Young Writer “Warm, thoughtful and beautifully illustrated” ReadingZone "Not bad for a bad lad is a book written by Michael Morpurgo and is another one of his greats. Although it is a short read I believe it is exciting and very interesting. This book tells the story of a young boy who messed about when he was a child. The police sent him to a young offenders prison where he meets the most unlikely of friends. This is a great quick read and I would recommend it to anybody who loves a great book about animals ."- by Jess. |
