You will have noticed several books from this wonderful, local author on my site. All of the Barbara Mitchelhill books I have read have been very good thrillers, but all refreshingly different, ideal if you don't like reading lots of the same series.
In this book two children find themselves thrust into the world of diamond smugglers when their Dad disappears on a night out with them. They return home to find that their house has been ransacked by people looking for something. Unsure of what to do they turn to the only person they can trust, a family friend, who turns out to be anything but friendly.
There are gun battles, kidnappings, fights, escapes from captivity, pretty much everything in this action packed tale.... and unless my library copy of the book had some pages missing, a very abrupt end to the story that leaves you wanting just a little bit more.
"After the shock of Dad’s sudden disappearance, Harry and Charlie scour Edinburgh to find him. But, as they step into a world of criminal activity, they soon discover that others are out to stop them. Then the twins find themselves in terrible danger but use their grit and determination to outwit those who are holding their father. From the streets of Edinburgh to an ancient monastery and the wild Scottish coastline, Harry and Charlie are determined to survive and to find Dad."
